The letting agent keeps ignoring me or is rude. How do I complain?Beta*

Your landlord, access and privacy
Private renting in England since the Renters' Rights Act 2025, unless the question says otherwise. General information, not legal advice.

Every letting agent in England must belong to a government-approved redress scheme: The Property Ombudsman (TPO) or the Property Redress Scheme (PRS). Their website or paperwork must say which one. Complain to the agent in writing first, using its complaints procedure. If you don't get a final reply within 8 weeks, or you're unhappy with it, you can take the complaint to the scheme for free. The scheme can order an apology, put things right and award compensation, and it can expel an agent that doesn't pay. Repeated unanswered emails, aggressive or threatening messages about rent or inspections, and ignored repair reports are all things the schemes deal with. Keep copies of everything.
