A housemate is harassing me or making constant noise. Will the landlord or agent do anything?Beta*
Housemates, guests and pets
Private renting in England since the Renters' Rights Act 2025, unless the question says otherwise. General information, not legal advice.
If you each have your own tenancy for a room, the landlord or agent can take action against that tenant, including warnings and, in serious cases, eviction for antisocial behaviour. Report it in writing with a log of dates, times and what happened. If you share one joint tenancy, the landlord can't easily act against just one person. Whatever the setup, harassment and threats can be reported to the police, and the council's noise or antisocial behaviour team can investigate persistent noise. If you feel unsafe, ask the council's housing team for help.
