My landlord took a parcel addressed to me. Is that allowed?Beta*
Your landlord, access and privacy
Private renting in England since the Renters' Rights Act 2025, unless the question says otherwise. General information, not legal advice.
No. Post and parcels addressed to you belong to you, and a landlord has no right to keep, open or throw them away. Ask for it back in writing straight away. Get proof of delivery from the courier, because a photo of where it was left helps. If it isn't returned, report it to the police as theft, and ask the sender or courier to reship it or refund you. If it's part of a wider pattern of interference, keep a log, because that pattern can amount to harassment.
