Do I have to leave my home during viewings, or let the agent take photos of my things?Beta*

Your landlord, access and privacy
Private renting in England since the Renters' Rights Act 2025, unless the question says otherwise. General information, not legal advice.

No. It's your home while you rent it. You can stay in during viewings, and you can ask that a member of staff comes with anyone looking round, rather than strangers being let in on their own. Marketing photos or videos of your home with your belongings in shot should only be taken with your agreement. You can ask for personal items to be kept out of shot, or for the photos to be taken after you've left. If the agent doesn't lock up properly after a viewing, report it in writing straight away. You may be able to claim if anything is lost or damaged as a result.
