Can my landlord stop me drying clothes indoors or using a tumble dryer?Beta*

Repairs, damp and mould
Private renting in England since the Renters' Rights Act 2025, unless the question says otherwise. General information, not legal advice.

A tenancy agreement can include reasonable rules, but a term that leaves you with no realistic way to dry your washing can be unfair under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. That's especially so if there is no garden, no washing line and no space for a dryer. Unfair terms are not binding on you. If the landlord's worry is condensation and mould, the answer is proper ventilation, such as working extractor fans and windows that open, and that's the landlord's job. Ask in writing what alternative they are providing, and keep the reply.
