Record of Income
Every pound coming in, dated and totalled · ready to hand to a landlord, a council or a court
When a landlord, a council or a court asks what you have coming in, what they want is one figure with the working behind it — every source, what it pays, when it started, and when it stopped. That is awkward to assemble from a drawer of letters and a bank app, which is sometimes rather the point of asking. This puts it together properly. Enter a figure once and it keeps counting until you say otherwise, which is how an award actually behaves, and when April moves the rates you close the old line and open the new one in a click. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
1 · Which system are you on?
This only decides what the page offers you next. You can override any of it.
Income-replacement benefit:
2 · The period you are reporting
3 · What comes in
Add a line for each source. Leave To empty while it is still being paid.
4 · What it comes to
Before you hand this over
This is a record, not a calculation. It totals what you tell it you receive. It does not work out entitlement and it cannot check your award is right — for that, use the entitlement page or a full calculator.
Back it with the paperwork. A figure is worth far more with the award letter, the Universal Credit statement or the payslip behind it. Number your documents and put the same numbers in the note against each line.
Self-employed figures are before tax. Money into the business is not money you can spend. Enter receipts and expenses separately and the page will show the profit, which is the figure that counts as income.
Council Tax Reduction is not income. It reduces a bill rather than paying you, so it is kept out of the totals. Record it if you want it on the statement, and it will be listed separately.
Keep it current. Rates change every April. Use Uprate on a line and it closes on 5 April and reopens on 6 April at the new figure, so the history stays intact instead of being overwritten.
