Complain to the Property Redress Scheme Beta*
Draft it here at your own pace · paste it into the portal when it is ready
The Property Redress Scheme portal will not let you save a part-finished complaint, so a long submission has to be written in one sitting or lost. This page is the same set of questions with the same character limits, kept on your own computer. Write it over days if you need to, save as you go, then paste the finished text into the real portal in one go.
Nothing you type here is stored or sent anywhere. It is not connected to the Property Redress Scheme and submits nothing — the real complaint is still made on their site.
Questions renters ask: The letting agent keeps ignoring me or is rude. How do I complain? · Can a letting agent charge me for references, credit checks, viewings, renewals or the tenancy agreement? · Can an agent keep my holding deposit because my references failed, or because the move-in kept getting delayed? · The letting agent gave keys to my home to someone without my consent. What can I do? · all questions
* Untested, unverified and possibly incomplete. This workspace has not been checked end to end against the live service. Treat everything it produces as a draft, and check it against the real form before you rely on it. Found a step we have not covered? Save that page from the Property Redress Scheme portal before you type anything into it (Ctrl+S, or Cmd+S on a Mac, “Webpage, complete”), run it through our web page data scrubber, and email it to us so we can build it in. We aim to do that within a couple of days, but this is a volunteer project and that is an aim, not a promise.
